free anti-virus protection

Post by Bane »

Hola amigos!

I want to know which programs you guys use, if they're free, and why you use them? I need a good free anti virus protection program since my norton prescription has run out, heh. Back in the day, some friends of mine used f-secure (i think was it's name), anyone heard of it or even use it nowadays? It's still any good? The program I want is often updated, easy to use and don't suck my comp dry of juice, if ya know what i mean..

Any input appreciated on this issue, since I really have no clue which program to choose.

Got those too, router with a firewall and nortons software one ..

Zonealarm is a perfect example of a program that "sucks my comp dry" if i recall correctly, it takes like 50% of your processor capacity in use all the time.. At least it used too back in the day when I last used it(like 3-4 years ago?). Maybe it's alot better nowadays tho, I dunno.

Hey guys, long time I post, if you are looking for a good anti virus thats pretty forgiving as far as CPU load, I recommend looking thru your favorite torrent site and search for Avast Professional. I run a personal computer repair business and thats what I always install for them. Don't bother with anything from TrendMicro, McAfee or Panda. As far as avg goes, its great for what you paid for and cleans a lot of stuff, but Avast is a little more thorough in the virus definitions.
