Backstory for anyone who doesnt know. Some guy died IRL, and his friends held a funeral for him in game. A lot of people show up to pay there respects. And a lot more people show up and rape the funeral hardcore.
Guess they weren't following the geneva convention rules of engagement. Haha.

Made me ROFL
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
There probably isn't any meaning in life. Perhaps you can find something interesting to do while you are alive. Like how you found that flower. Like how I found you.
Buttons aren't toys.

meh people doing such thing are losers
both camps i mean
its stupid to "pay respect" or "tribute" in a game, it only encompass so many people... and so much more people wont give a crap
i guess for some people though, those games are their life...
and its stupid to raid such a thing, cause its childish and immature, but then what else to expect in a mmorpg?

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
This happened on Illidan, where most of us had our mains at the time. We've since moved to a different server, but this was about 6-8 months ago. The dead person was actually female, if that matters. Also, with the official public forums by Blizzard, and the unofficial forums at illidrama.com, the whole Illidan community, especially for well organized pvp/raiding guilds such as those involved, is fairly tight-knit. Everyone involved in this incident, on both sides, were known to each other. Its not like some big group of alliance showed up and said "Oh look! A bunch of horde in Tuxs and dresses instead of armor! Lets get em!"
The most STUPID part of this whole affair is that the organizers decided to hold it in Winterspring, which is contested territory. Everyone is flagged, so I don't know WTF they expected to happen. Second of all, they publicized the event ahead of time on the WoW public forums.
To show even further stupidity, there is a Monument to the Fallen Warrior in the Barrens already, which is horde territory. It is actually there to honor someone on the Blizzard dev team who died during the development of WoW, but it would have actually been an appropriate place for a funeral. They had it in Winterspring because someone once remembered the girl saying that she "liked snow".
Had the factions been reversed in this case, knowing the horde guilds as well as I did, I doubt any horde guild master would have allowed this to happen. It is all a stupid game, but there is such a thing as respect for others. After this occurred, Serenity Now was KOS by all horde on the server, and was occasionally X-teamed by other alliance guilds who were pissed. Their corpses were continually camped, and I think the frustration soon out-weighed the humor of it all. It caused them a lot of problems trying to gather up for instance raids, people would see them in battlegrounds and leave, ruining the BG in many cases, etc. They continued to brag and laugh about it, but thier frustration was also obvious a lot of time. It got to the point they didn't fight anymore trying to get into a raid instance, they'd just rez-jump until they could zone in. Its not a position I'd want my guild in.
One policy we had with BL, and we continue with HoEs is we don't go bragging and shit to the public forums. This draws undue attention to yourself and the guild, and when a whole guild is being griefed by the opposing faction, lots of time is wasted trying to assemble, raid, etc. Its not worth the bullshit it causes.

Thats real pvp'ers imo. If they didn't want it crashed, they should have put it in a safer area. I'm glad it happened, personally. And i would have been apart of it, had i known.
A little mean? Yes. Insanely stupid to hold an online funeral in a pvp game and expect nothing like this? Very, very stupid.

Yes, it was quite stupid to perform it. If anything, do it a non contested zone.
Would I have participated in the killing? No. They are trying to show their respects, and even though they are going about it in the wrong way, its rather immature to knowingly put an end to it.
I would lean more towards real dickheads instead of real pvpers

There is no way you could even dream of having a gathering in EQ2, or any PvP MMO for that matter, without someone busting it up. There are just too many people out there that think that something like that would be funny. They should have expected that possibility and held it somewhere else... obviously
Sifo-EQ2
I can see the humor in it, too, as well as how some people would feel the way Roam does about it. The thing that always got me is these people were from a fairly well known and respected guild at the time. After being in 2 raiding guilds, one real hardcore, the other more casual, I think I'd probably find another guild if some of my members did this, because while I enjoy the hell out of PvP no matter where or how, I don't enjoy being griefed by 5000 people of the other faction just because of my tag. And, given it is a PvP server, PvP griefing is given broad lattitude by the GMs. And when you have to farm herbs, ores, gold, etc., etc., to be effective in end-game raids, it makes it all the more frustrating to spend 2 hours running to your corpse instead of getting the mats you need.
So I'm not saying these guys, from a PLAYERS perspective, were wrong to PvP on a PvP server. I'm saying they didn't consider the consequences at all, and it caused them more pain in the long run than the pleasure of that 30 mins attacking people without armor or weapons. I don't think griefing a few dozen people for 30 mins is worth months of payback from thousands.

i dont know if i would have helped had i the chance, but i sure as hell would have watched.
kinda like romans watching the gladiator fights.
personally i think it needed to be done though, it was a dumbass descision to hold it in contested territory, and even stupider for everyone to be standing around naked.
