I remember a while back some guys made a mod that was really rough in playstyle. PvP was prolly not very strong though.

I have been thinking of reinstalling and playing for pvp, but my lack of time to want to level grind is what stops me

I play on a private server that runs 1.09, They modded it to make a lot of stuff easier.

Such as, They changed the hellforge into a system where you finish it. They give you a "Ticket" you transmute it in Hell Act 1 and it takes you to the cow level that has been emptied (Cows are in a cave now /w trapdoor in Rogue Camp). Anyway you go into the cow level and kill a monster and he drops "Prize Tokens" these prize tokens are then used in cube recipies to make any 09 unique/rare dupe/charms whatever you want.

Cows also have an inherant 20% bonus to xp or something like that. Also they have certain realm helping stipulations, if they are met they add in a 24hour 200% xp patch.

They don't check CD keys so you can use D2loader to load up multiple accounts if you want. There are a lot of benefits that make playing here way easy so you can get into PvP pretty quickly.

I took a look at the info for the private server and it looks interesting enough, kinda heavy pvp. the bonus crap looks like you can only get like X bonus items before you cant get any unless you hyper rush a toon to get them. Kinda sounds like a lot of work, unless it takes 2 days to get to 99.

PvP really hasn't taken off yet or the info might make it seem bigger like it actually is. The server is still growing and around Eastern primetime there are about 50-60 people on (This has been gradually growing since august.)

Traffic is definitely starting to pickup and hopefully we will put in some gimmeitam style dueling rules to help balance things out for team duels.

Getting 99 is pretty easily attainable (especially with a sorc) in a couple nights of work. I played .09 on Bnet for a long time and I never had a character past 90. On here it's literally a couple hours in a good cow run. Plus they give out mf gear for a sorc which makes killing pretty easy to start especially for a first character.

Probably the hardest part is getting enough charms to have multiple duelers but the market for decent crafted rings and good cruel paladin weapons is pretty hot right now and you can get 15-20 charms with 1 lucky roll.

I played for about 4 hours with koric, and leeched my way to 90. It would take you about 20 hours of in game time per dueler to be better than your best toon on battle.net from 1.09

The one walkthrough was written in leet and I hate reading when people put

I never had any trouble when reverting to 1.09 and using the Gateway editor to play. I did get one minor problem and that is not to copy/paste the IP address into the GW editor but to type it out. If anyone is having problems just ask and I'll try and help.

I had absolutely no trouble with this.. so.. here's what i did.

First grab this three files.

1. http://www.mtmoon.com/relived/110to109.zip

3. http://d2relived.com/files/patch_d2.mpq

Install diabloii with expansion and connect to battle.net to update to current patch.

Extract all the files from 110to109.zip directly into your Diablo 2 folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Diablo II\), and REPLACE all the files.

Run BNGatewayEditor.exe

- Select the Diablo2/Diablo2Exp Tab located near the bottom of the interface.

- Click the ADD Gateway Button located to the right of the gateway list.

- In the Name box type D2Relived.

- In the Zone box type -8.

- In the IP box type 66.199.251.106.

- Click OK to add the gateway.

Copy the downloaded patch_d2.mpq into your Diablo 2 folder and REPLACE the existing one.

- Run Diablo 2 as normal.

- Click on Gateway: and select D2Relived.

- Click Connect to Battle.net.

i tried that, adn each time it gave me an error message. I'm uninstalling d2 and reinstalling it to see if there was a mistake.
