Your gaming monitor?

Post by Darius »

Hey guys, I'm just upgrading my comp (again) to X2 dual core CPU, 2 gigs of RAM, 7800 GT SLI, etc. I wanna play this fucking crap of a game called F.E.A.R. in high res with AA/AF and soft shadows on ;)

Now, I also want to finally replace my 19" Philips CRT (though it's a real high quality monitor) with a nice, sleek, fast BLACK LCD :)

After much research and reading hundreds of opinions and reviews, as well as considering different monitors from the ultra-fast 3 ms ViewSonic VX924 for gamers to the impressive Dell widescreens 2005FPW and 2405FPW, I am finally leaning towards the new 20.1" 4:3 aspect 1600*1200 ViewSonic VP2030b.

Tell me, what are you using for games and other stuff? What is your experience, particularly in terms of ghosting/blurring (if you have an LCD of course)?

Post your displays and opinions pls.

I use a 21" Dell D1626HT - old school tube. 90 hz refresh, 1600x1200. Not top of the line and not new, but quite nice for the price.
Don't hate me because I'm pwn

Wish I could suggest Apple's 30" HD Display (http://www.apple.com/displays/specs.html), but probably wouldn't work for you). I run a different screen-- does the job, kinda screen.

Planar 170M, was about $250.00 US, 17" LCD. Works just fine for my needs.

blank out

I'm enjoying the crap out of my apple 17"er - - awesome for graphics and such - dunno about gaming but I'm sure it'd do well...sleek and sexy is the name of the game.

FEAR is a badass game, its fairly decent in multiplayer but usually a matter of who pulls the trigger first.

the single player is quite entertaining, and made me jump a few times.

play with the lights off imo.

also slowmo + plasma rifle > badguys
its like a railgun but you get to see them disintegrate.
