Any of you tried Planetside?

Post by Genie »

I picked up a demo called the Reserves which is basically a free version of the game

the game itself is a MMOFPS, first-person shooter with RPG elements. You gain XP for doing stuff (Killing other players, capturing bases, etc) and gain battle rankings which add different certification points you can spend to give you different certs, such as better weapons/armor usage or different vehicle control. The graphics imo dont look all too promising, but the gameplay is rather difficult yet enjoyable.

Reserves is a free version you play where the highest rank you can achieve is 6, but you never have to pay for anything apparently. Buying the game and paying the monthly fee gives you access to more stuff and higher ranks. (Rank 6 doesnt give much apparently)

Ive been to 2 bases when they've been captured by my faction and ive had a load of fun, sans being able to kill anyone :|
Plus theres an instant action command where you can jump right to where the fighting is. Pretty neat idea imo.

If any of ya'll wanna check it out go Here

This game has its addicting features to it. The downside to the Reserves version is the unability to level yer guy up to the point he can withstand being shot at by more than one gun. The upside is still the non paying part however, and ive been having a blast. I still have 2 more levels to go before im reserve capped, and I can play around with my skills til I find a set worth keeping for only being level 6 :|

This game is rather fun though.

if ya like the FPS/level up aspect, you migth want to try Battlefield 2 or battlefield 2142 (comes out wednesday the 18th i preordered)

it doesnt have the same level up stuff, but its fun and you can unlock new weapons and some skills.

This game is definately a fun game to play, even as a free 6 level game as I am right now. Its tempting to pay for a month and see how things are in that field, but MAN am I having a blast. Got a bud hooked into it and we were playing it a bit this morning. We blew up 2 tanks, a mech and I scored like 4 kills, the most ive done in one sitting ever. I think I gotta drop my piloting skills though, since I seem to keep crashing those over and over with little help to our cause. My bud got the 4-wheelers and kicks some serious butt with em. You guys should check it out, join the Emerald Server, Vanu faction.
