I got errors doing it that way too... go to the main site, register on the forums and then go to troubleshooting forum. They've got the long way to DL. I got into the server but couldn't get into the game untill i downloaded the patch straight into my d2 folder.

Hey Roam, I did exactly as yer post, word for word with a brand new install. Im getting an access unhandled violation.
Alright, so it wasnt -word for word-
I tried it a coupla nights ago and set up the gatway program (which by the way, isnt called bnetgateway whateverthefuck you called it. its GWS or some shit. Anyhow, I tried it then and got the same error, then uninstalled, deleted all extra d2 folders I had rummaging in the main one, and did a fresh install this morning. The biggest thing I see about the ordeal is when I get into the main game menu, I see the batte.net button and the server selector, but instead of saying my current destination, it says "Ith" on it, and I cannot connect to battle.net at all, no matter what. The game says it is unable to determine what program im using to connect with, or someshit like that.
