Disney buys Marvel
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Heh, yeah that was my first thought as well. I just hope they won't make future marvel-comics and movies to childish to try to appeal to an even bigger audiance or some shit like that.Kadian wrote:I can't see anything good coming out of that...

<5Nme dream i can see tou I tell you how I fell???
what i gather to be a possible good outcome of this is : Marvel didnt have cash anymore to finance its movies
so while they might ax the Thor movie, it might ensure that we do see a Captain America movie
but yea, we might not see another punisher movie... and we might get more movies like fantastic four, which are PG and not PG-13
i dont think they will impact the comic books much though

Haven't read about Marvel's economics, but shouldn't they have made a shitload of cash from all the movies being made the last decade?shiram wrote:what i gather to be a possible good outcome of this is : Marvel didnt have cash anymore to finance its movies

I dont think that its a bad thing, and I dont think it has anything to do with marvel not having the money to do what they want. With the movies they have made in the last 5 years or so, they've made so much coin that they dont need to worry aboot it for a while im sure. Selling to Disney was just good business. I mean seriously; 4 billion dollars???? My god thats a great deal
The fleecy cloud may kiss the sky...the rose may kiss the butterfly...the morning dew may kiss the grass...and you, my friend, can kiss my ass!
well the thing is alot of their properties are licensed
like the fantastic four movies, spiderman movies, also alot of theme parks and merchandising, so revenue from those sources are limited for Marvel
they dont make much money from comic book sales either
and what i gathered from the news is that marvel didnt have enough money to finance some of their movie, since they are an independent studio, they we're having trouble coming up with the 130-160 millions needed for their movies, and when you factor in a relatively unsafe hero like Thor... can you really be sure a Thor movie would break even or be worthwhile??
I think Disney might have overpaid, but to me its a legacy grab
they got all those cartoons classics, classics movies
and now they own the ip of most of the best known super heroes
its a monopoly!
