Ipods/Mp3 players

Post by StormCrow »

anyone know any good mp3 players besides ipods? also prices would be helpful gonna buy a real good one when i get my tax refund (500$ woot)

i was thinking ipod video since i already got a normal ipod (and the video one is black!)

but any really good/cheap ones would be acceptable as well
pretty much i want it to be able to play any music format so i dont need to change my (il)legally downloaded music formats and shit.

also prefer theyre durable (since i tend to break stuff easily) and warranty = good too :)

thx for the help

i hate ipods basically
the samsung one i got is a gem, except for its supposed short battery life of 13 hours

key features i was looking for when buying were :
no AA or AAA battery, the shit's gotta have its own rechargeable
usb plug on the player, can use it as usb key as well
small, and at least 1gig
i dont really need more, and i can always remove and add more...

its just a matter of knowing what your looking for, and then finding whats available

I'd actually like a little more space. But if i could find one with those requirements, id be happy.

I don't suppose you can link us to some of the other ones you considered?

iRiver players are pretty good. I also like some of the new stuff from Creative, like the Zen Touch/Micro... Pretty nice, only inferior to iPod in terms of controls...

iAudio x5l or u3 are OK, too.

They do? I was informed you could only put itunes on them. You just linked it up with your mp3s?

creative is actually suing apple cause they stole their control system :p

and as for myself, i didnt really consider any above 1gig, because i dont need more right now, and i prefered to have great player with cool features, instead of one i'd hate but with alot of space...

but in the same vein, except with 20/30 gig and video...
maybe check this one out, i havent checked the price though

another fine example...

heres how it works roam, you use itunes yes.

but you can put ANY songs on your computer into your itunes library which inturn = songs on your ipod.

(if your friend is d/ling shit from itunes for the monthly fee, they need some fixing)

:)

sometimes you gotta change the music format since it only plays like MP3 and ?AAC? but it plays all my illgotten music (aka ALL my music)

i'm thinking ill get the ipod video so i can put porn on it though, also it holds mad gigs

I bought a 60 gig ipod back when the color screen photos came out. I thought it was a nice product and did a little research on it and waited until they came in and bought one on the spot.

My only complaint is the battery life of a ipod, and thats only because I leave it on sleep for extended periods of time with the charger off. This adds up to a lack of battery when I want to use it, but since I have the little bugger hooked up to my home stereo as much as its with me I find that charging with the wall adapter is quite easy and troublefree. My little buddy also charges while updating, and when I get into the mood it can be updating for a hour or so a day.

Thinking of itunes as little more then a music buying service is short sighted. Having a ton of cd's I needed to burn onto the ipod I found that just blasting through them with the itunes conversion software was the easiest way. If you don't use itunes for pulling from cd's you need to convert from mp3 to a different type of file. wmv I think is the extension, so basically the mp3 gets converted from a cd or source, and reconverted into the new format. Skipping the second conversion is best imho since you aren't risking any data loss or corruption.

Files don't save automatically in a 1-x format when using a uploaded file. Kind of annoying when you download a cd and need to set up track numbers to keep albums in line. Without setting it with track numbers its just alphabetical.

Promos! itunes and pepsi run a free download promo once a year or so... With the way I work and being in retail thats a tasty savings while trying new music without scavaging other services. I banked like 20 some odd caps with free tunes over the 2 or so months they had the promo going.

I wouldn't go without a straight up ipod right now, the software is constantly updated, the add ons are reliable and with just shy of 10 gig uploaded and 2700ish songs I know this thing is going to be with me a while. Seven days of music is a godsend when on a long trip or if you want a wide variety. If I had the option to buy a new one instead of my current I'd have waited for the nano since the standard ipod can be a little bulky. I'm even considering getting the girlfriend a shuffle for when she's walking the dog.

/proipod rant off.
