Surround sound system

Post by shiram »

i've been researching for the past few weeks about getting a good 5.1 surround sound system
basically going from a cheap plastic home theater in a box with plastic speakers
to a setup of receiver, players, and speakers

got the yamaha 6150 receiver
and i finally decided on the speakers, Energy Take Classic 5.1
from what i read they are the best small sized 5.1 surround set for about 400-600$
i cant wait to get them in and crank it out!!

i've been discovering the audio world recently, and basically upgrading all my audio
went from a samsung basic mp3 player, to a cowon player that handles lossless audio files, and even using crappy headphones, it made a world of difference
i got the sennheiser hd280 headphone
and the v-moda vibe in ear monitors

all good stuff, and im really eager to get this all!
sadly, all that good audio stuff comes from the USA so im stuck waiting...
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I only wish I could do the same, but good sound systems cost MASSIVE amounts of cash here in Sweden :-/

looks like you got a great setup there, now all you need is some good music to boost :D

Some months ago, back when the dollar was so insanely cheap even for our weak currency here in Sweden, it quickly became popular to order hi-fi or other technology stuff from the US because it was practically a robbery, heh.. :) It was actually cvheaper to travel to the US, buy such stuiff and then travel home with it, than to buy it in Sweden in the first place, hehe..

Ok, I am exaggerating a little, you had to buy quite alot of stuff and sell some when you got back in order to make it work. But I understand it's cheaper for you to order it from "down south" and ship it.

Didn't you used to listen to Amon Amarth? I dunno IIRC, but I just found that band while listening to a web radio station, and got seriously hooked! There like first four albums are just so fricking good.

yup Amon Amarth is pretty badass, i saw live twice, both we're great shows
europe's pretty great for those melodic death bands
you must have an aswesome local scene of shows and festivals

as for ordering from the usa, well sometimes its just better to have more option, and then there's stuff thats only available there, or at least not in canada
they simply are a bigger market, with 10 times our population, so they got more stuff
but shipping cross borders can be a pain too
