New laptop

Post by RoamingMadness »

Okay, this is pretty simple i think, but here is what i need.

Laptop Computer, as cheap as possible

All it will be used for is surfing the internet and downloading music over wi-fi.

Built in sound would be nice.

Try www.delloutlet.com and check out the vostro 1000's, which are listed under small business laptops. Their outlet site is their place for returns and refurbs, they sell them at a reasonable price. Right now there is a Vostro 1000 with;

-AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core processor TK-57 (1.9GHz/256KB)
-2 GB DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz (2 DIMMs)
-80 GB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
-8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
-15.4 WXGA Laptop Screen Display with TrueLife

All for $439, and it goes up from there, and their stock always rotates.

Also check www.slickdeals.net which usually has some good bargains, like this one http://www.slickdeals.net/permadeal/133 ... -LCD-430AR

Okay, question...

Should i be looking for something without an OS? Those computers are great shir (even better considering she wants a pink one) but i don't need a warrenty or vista on this bitch. Should i just go with that anyway and not worry about it?

wasnt xp discontinued just recently? should be hard to find now i guess
unless you go to a "ma an pa " computer shop
theres always the alternative of downloading a hacked copy, but that can be a mess
warranty is just bonus considering the low prices
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

vista is pro... don't settle for xp

Fact is that if you are buying a laptop like a Dell, you might as well take the OS that comes included, because they will probably charge you just as much for one without it, unless you go to a "ma and pa" like Shir said, but then I don't know any "ma and pa" places that build laptops.....

Take one with Vista Home included and then feel free to wipe it, and install your XP copy or whatever, worst case is that you have a Vista CD Key that you can use later.....
