Ok, sorry for all the questions but how heavily are you looking to get into games with this machine? I'm asking because DX10 games really aren't going to be out until later in the year if this year at all. I ask this because the 8600 series of Nvidia cards tend to blow ass compared to the 7900/7800 series and actually tend to cost more money depending on where and which model you buy.

I ask because the 8600's tend to keep up until you turn the anti aliasing on and when they start to chug. If you don't plan to play anything over 12x10 resolution and nothing of Doom/Oblivion caliber graphics on the highest settings then I would recommend this

Its about $100 over your budget but you're gonna get a 50%-90% performance increase over the 8600GTS and plays just about anything flawlessly. They are just about the size of a small skateboard however and I'm not sure if you'll have room in a Compaq case.

Here is a pretty sweet graphics card for $200 with a $20 rebate, it's got a good speed (720 Mhz) and is 256 memory.
