Pretty cool. But i've never had a need for such a mousepad.

Same. Optical mice pretty much eliminated the need.

i think its a bit over the top myself
i thought of making a ventilated mouse, but i figured it wasnt worth the time/effort

for some reason my optical mouse wont pick up on the table which holds my computer, i think it has something to do with its texture, its not 100% smooth, just flat

I use my good old cloth - Allsop Raindrop - and I wouldn't be willing to replace it with anything (Steelpad, Icemat, fUnc, whatever). No need for air cooling in my case, I guess.
