They have a bit of a system of a down feel, but less manic. If you check the musicmap page for Oysterhead it will show bands that people that like oysterhead also like, with bands near eachother being generally liked by the same people.

Try downloading a few songs.

oooo I'm a former phishead so I've heard oysterhead - - just saw buckethead who's played with brain, the drummer of primus and showed that shit to roam - - best guitar player in the world in terms of speed on the electric imo.

Buckethead is definately credible for speed. I wouldnt call him the 'fastest' in the world but he is for sure in the Top 5. My personal pick is Fredrik Thordendal of Meshuggah. Im an off beat/speed/ technical kinda guy :P

Oh theres melody alright, its just a heavy one :P Anyway check him out and the band too if you'd like. One of my top favs for a long while now. I can also post a song or 2 up or I can send thru AIM n shit. And roaming showed me that buckethead song the other day, I had comletely lost track him and wasnt even aware he was around still. Is this from a new album or something?

nah that's just an internet only track I found - showcases his stuff prob better than most of his album stuff which is VERY varied from acoustic to stuff over heavy beats to straight metal.

saw him live in hollywood at the el rey about a week ago - INCREDIBLE.
