Battle Royale

Post by RoamingMadness »

So i heard about this movie about 5 years ago, but never knew the name. Last night i came across it, and watched it.

I have to say, it's fucking amazing. Check out the preview for yourself, and if you think it's your cup of tea download/rent it.

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

There probably isn't any meaning in life. Perhaps you can find something interesting to do while you are alive. Like how you found that flower. Like how I found you.

Yeah the shit where the dude shoots up the girl on the hilltop while blasting it over the megaphone for everyone else to hear is prob one of the most shocking movie moments I've ever seen...I don't like the film because I think its basically anti-humanistic, but then again that's what I think of most horror - junk genre - but it does its ancient job well I suppose..

To give everyone an example of this scene.. so youll know if the movie is too hardcore for you or not. Two 15 year old girls are on a hill, calling for peace with a megaphone. One guy, who signed up for fun, walks up behind them and uzi's them, then puts the megaphone to the dying girl's mouth, and uzi's her to death for the whole island to hear. It's pretty hardcore, to say the least.

I think the most shocking thing about the whole movie ( and why it never hit big in the US) wasn't because of the actual violence. But the fact most of it is 15 year olds killing each other.

I think the movie did a great job of showing the breakdown of trust, and was pretty well written and casted. Alot of the deaths are just for body count, you don't get to know most of the characters. But you get a feeling for almost everyone before they die. Not only that, unlike most horror movies, where you know pretty much it's either good or evil who will will. This movie literally has about 8 different ending possible. And does a great job leaving it open till the very end.

Yea i didn't even bother watching the second one. I knew that it didnt have a chance. The plot isn't nearly good enough to run a completely different story off it.

1 is good, 2 does suck.

The ending to 1 is the funniest thing ever, with the phone..... I won't give it away.
