1. I don't think thats true.. i mean.. it's true he's the same. But he has alot of different types of tempo/style per album. So its not like.. he's got only one sound.

2. I'm not really sure what makes a good rapper from a bad one. But at least he's a talented writer and funny.

A few of his songs i don't like. But the vast majority of stuff is clever enough for me keep listening. He's certainly no weird al though. Ahah.. burn..

Actually you guys are very closed minded, imho. If you know anything about rap, which you obvlously don't.. you would know that Eminem is in fact one of the best rappers ever alive. The way that he can make a whole song rhyme where nobody else could using the same lyrics... some of his lyrics are genious, they really are. I for one think he's just got a grating voice - same reason I can't listen to most pop singers these days, same reason I can't listen to the Talking Heads, same reason a lot of emo makes me want run and not stop for a long time - - ass for vocal chords. But for that reason I never got the chance to really listen to his stuff extensively - - never said he sucked though if you can stand his 10yo voice

Here is my problem with what you just said phreek. And refer(mm) to my #1 and feel free to answer that btw. But just because someone is a great writer, doesn't make them a good rapper.

I will agree his lyrics are some of the best across music period. But the music he uses, he didn't create. And i can rap any lyrics to any song i've ever heard him do, with same flow, same tempo, what have you.

I will not agree with you he is a great rapper, simply because i don't know what makes a great rapper. But he's in the Tupacan league of writing.

No, he is the best rapper alive. The way that he says words.. and ya you might be able to 'keep up' with him, but you don't sound like him and not even close. if you do record a little bit and post it up, I could use a good laugh atm lol

yes, he is a great writter, but then again not really... it's the way that he says them that makes it so great. Take one of his songs and just read the lyrics w/o listening to it.. usually you'll be like, wtf how does he make that sound good? If you were to ask a panel of 'the 10 best rappers alive' who they think the best rapper is, most would say Eminem or he would be very close up there. Someone tried to tell me Kanye West was a better rapper than Eminem I almost kicked their ass... Kanye West actually did make probably one of the best albums of this decade (not his new one his old one) but that doesn't make him a better rapper. Kanye West barely even raps. Method Man is probably 2nd best alive IMHO... Nas is really good. But then again there's a difference in Rap and Hip Hop, but you guys don't know that either so .. once again, eat my balls.

Oh ya and don't judge how you like him by his First album. And also I'm sure you don't know about his 3 alter egos.. it's almost genious in itself. He either raps as Marshal Mathers, Slim Shady, or Eminem. Each one has a different outlook on life, fame, et cetera... it's really deep imho. And for those of you who just don't like him b/c you don't like how his music sounds, fine.. just fine. Just shut the fuck up when you're tryin to critique hip hop. I grew up on the shit and I know pretty much everything about it. Oh, and those of you who judge what you know about Eminem b/c of what is played on the radio or tv, those are his worst songs and they should in no way be the basis for comparison. And no matter what you think he's not my favorite artist.. maybe in the top 5. But when we're talking Hip Hop mechanics, (which again none of you seem to know ANYTHING about), he is the Michael Jordon or Tiger Woods, and there's not really anybody that actually knows what they're talking about that can deny that.

lol Im sorry to offend the open minded Eminem fan club. I happen to know a thing or 2 I assume, about rap and also respect it. Most of my friends are into the hip hop scene and have been but they have opened my eyes to some of there good stuff and vice versa. All I said (Which is my opinion duh) that he doesnt change his style of voice/temp in a lot of his music. I also personally do not like his lyrivs because he is talking about stuff I could really careless about, mostly his personal life and problems. Now call me a retard but I appreciate/respect his work as a musician but I dont find his lyrics as geniously as you do. As a matter of fact I use to own a copy of his first album and grew tired of it, especially when the 2nd album came out and he blew up. Sure I havent 'heard' all the albums to there entirety, but I think from what I hear on the radio and a small some I've heard in my friends cars, I still stick with my opinion of me hating his whiney voice/ style of vocals. I'm sorry. But what? Are you telling me that the way he says a word. Say for example. Carrot. Makes him a better rapper than the way i say carrot? That's by far, the dumbest thing i may have ever heard.

He can't sing. He's talking quickly. That's basically all rap is. If he wasn't a great writer, he wouldn't be famous. Period.

Eminem stands out because...

1. He's white.
2. He's not rapping about the same shit everyone else is.
3. His lyrics are creative, funny, and he pushes alot of boundaries.

That's it. If eminem was a black guy rhyming about blunts, 40s, and bitchs, and didn't have the creative lyrics behind him he'd have been lucky to ever gotten past "My Name is....." before someone shut off the record.

Im with Aaron here... I just cant listen to some people because of their voice, and Eminem is one of them. People who whine through an entire song (Durst, that dude from Staind, Eminem... others) I just cant stand.
