Anyone here ever listened to any hip hop from outside of the states? Some of the best stuff out there is from the UK and France. Or some of the less mainstream (not implying that non mainstream = better, just that it is often more diverse) american stuff like Phi-Life Cypher.
And no one mention the guy Westwood (a DJ+promoter of american hip hop in england) he is in no way a representative of the UK, he is an absolute laughing stock.

I would like to reply to this thread but since I'm not into the hip hop/rap scene and our Godfather has told us not speak of things we do not fully understand and know, so I won't reply to this thread.

edit:
Nor will I ever be allowed to post in the politics forum since I don't know enough 'boot american politics.

Can I post in the media forum? Please Phreek, please tell me I know enough to post in there! And in the other forums too, I would really like it if You almighty Godfather would be so kind to allow me to post in those forums!

Hahahaha :D

Well, here's my view on things, nothing revolutionary tho. Eminem IMO have a whiny voice which in small doses I find kinda funny to listen to but in larger doses becomes monotonous. I too think his lyrics are good, at least some of them, but calling him the worlds greatest rapper is to overrate him IMO. Just because he's one of the worlds most famous rappers doesn't mean he's the best. And besides isn't music, as all culture, "in the eye of the beholder"? It's up to each person to decide what they think is good or whats crap! And especially music can't be competed in, even though Europe tries to do that every year in the eurovision song contest.

Saying that because all or at least most of greatest rappers would rate eminem highest (without being able to back it up with proof too) will actually make him the best rapper alive, that is retarted. I bet there are thousands of small-time rappers all over USA, Europe(especially UK/France), Africa and whatever that could make his lyrics sound even better, and that write better lyrics than he does too.

I'm rambling know, but hopefully my opinion(Yes Phreek, my OPINION) was clear.

lol I don't really care, you can hate him all you want. I know a lot of people who can't stand him, and I know a lot of people who talk shit about him w/o even listening to his albums. Again, the stuff he puts on the radio and music videos for the most part are supposed to be a joke. Like from his new album, that Michael Jackson song? That's by FAR the worst song on the album and he knows it too. He sits back and watches his garbage reach the top of the charts... but seriously everyone should listen to his newest 3 albums after his first CD... I know you dont' like rap but it's really good. That song Mockingbird that he writes to his daughter, that's a really good song IMHO. He does whine a lot in his newer stuff, that's b/c it's Marshal Mathers in most, not Slim or Em. But you can diss him all you want I don't really care, I was just heated and just woke up on Christmas and had to hear my fellow friends call things I respect faggots - I don't like that.

I think you're giving him way too much credit phreek, but then again i never really saw why Biggie was so amazing except the fact he died at his height of popularity. And as far as his popular stuff being his worst stuff.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the world of music. Almost every band in history's best music, at least to the real fans, has been something most people haven't ever heard.

Ask any who claims to be a Nirvana fan what thier favorite song is. If they say Smells like teen spirit, you know they aren't a fan.

As far as eminem goes. IMO anyway. His first cd was good. His second was better. His third was good. And i haven't heard the forth.

My favorite songs are I'm Shady(mainly because of the D Rugs/pusherman reference), Drug Ballad, and Criminal.
