Whose dick did you have to suck to get the alpha slot? I have signed up for many alpha/beta slots and never got in to any except for open betas or pre-order bullshit slots.

click that link and click the beta banner - boom!

I've been a member on those forums for a long ass time, I'm sure that had something to do with it. They also said if you're part of a guild with another alpha tester, then you both have a better chance at being accepted. So put Radiant Legion (www.radiant-vii.com) down for your application, octa and shiram.

the server is actually scheduled to be coming up in an hr. but I won't be playing till tomorrow since the big EQ2 raid tonight!

The following.. im sorry i just rambled. Cut to the last paragraph if you dont care about my mumblings.

If i had to guess, Alpha slots are given away to only probably.. 100-1,000 people.. depending on the game.

Most Alphas are simply not designed to be the released project. Games can change so dramatically between Alpha and Beta even.. that you run the chance of putting people off to a buggy, weak contented product. While most people wont be put off.. you certainly wont be gaining any new buyers by giving away an alpha. So most games dont. And when the do, they're normally small. And crappy.

Most Beta's, on the other hand are designed to test things on the game before release, to insure the game works correctly. They'll take as many people as they need/want. The good news with betas are.. they have a LOT of selling power. A nearly completely product, given away for free is great. Add in it's usually something new and amazing.

Its win/win for most gaming websites and game makers to give away beta slots via the websites. Its free, cheap exposer to your key demographic. And will build up more than enough advertising you need to push a game.

*The non-bullshit. Look for gaming websites which game makers would want to target by giving lots of free beta tests to. That's where they'll normally show up. Or on the games website itself.

they don't have rites to the movies, but they have access to all the books. so its actually based on the books.

The alpha is just in breeland - the shire, achet, combe, murkwater marshes, etc. very unpolished, but is a solid building block for a good game. UI is a little clunky yet, laggier than it should be. Uses more comp resources than it should - normal stuff that gets polished before a finished product. Seems like a hell load of content already though.

You can only play 'good' races? That's so lame :-/ If I'd ever played this game I would have wanted to play a Uruk'Hai, heh.. Or a cave troll!

YAY! Thats WOuldsa HaF bin AMAZIIIN!!

But seriously, I wasn't joking, playing all the 'good' races has never been appealing to me. I always wanna be a bad mofu in rpgs, and uruk'hais are bad mothas..
The classes aren't that cool either, it's so obvious with the tank, the cleric and so on, and I've grew tired of the lack of individuality in all mmorpgs.
So I won't play this one either, heh..

I would like to get some 'inside info' tho from You Zoso, maybe this game will prove me wrong :)

i do agree, the races and classes look like crap

ouh ouh i wanna be a hobbit prancer and dazel my foes with my dandy footwork

also the fact that there isnt even one mage is kinda sucky as well
but thats just a first glance opinion

loremaster is the mage (more of a pet master)
minstrel is a healer
captain is a buffer
guardian is a tank
champion is melee dps
hunter is ranged dps

class choices are definately not the best I've seen - but they have a system of advanncing certain skills and traits on your char to make him unique. the system is still being refind. hopefully it will make up for lack of class choices.

from the sounds of things, it sounds like i'd rather play Age of Conan (if wow expansion sucks)

because it is looking really good, seems to have solid gameplay, and a nice pvp system.

seperate exp for pvp (pvp skills and abilities yay)

and pvp money (blood money muaha) which you use to buy new weapons and armor (for pvp no less)

and it looks cool as hell.

if the game turns out to be good it might be DAoC #2 and i'll have to hit it up.

i just hope they have caster classes which are unique and don't roll around with mana.

maybe a lil more flavor.

Mages wouldn't go well with the tolkien world, there are very few of those ya know. It's not like there are a gazillion little Gandalfs running around middle earth, and even gandalf himself isn't really nukin' da big spells in combat, he uses primarly his sword..

Never even heard 'boot it before, but i've read up some on Conan and damn it looks amazing! Looks way cooler then LOTR imho, finally a game that isn't for the teens but for older ppl, not that this will keep'em twelve year olds from playing tho, heh..

The enviroment looks just stunning, and the classes and "races" looks kinda good, but I haven't really seen what skills and such you have other than the bried explanation of the diff. classes like, XXX wears medium armor, two-handed blunt weapons and do DoT.

i know that, but still, it sucks not having a mage class

i hope the combat is actually blood and violent.

maybe actualyl being able to decapitate or explode your opponent would be probably the best pvp shit ever (for a mmorpg)
