2008, what a year for us gamers!

Post by Bane »

Next year will be "the shit", guys. Both of my two most anticipated games will be released then.

First and foremost: Empire: Total War.
I'm a complete sucker for these games, expecially Rome, but now FINALLY have they decided to make the setting, Europe in the 18:th century! And I pray to god they aren't gonna ignore the fact that Sweden was a fucking super-power back then! (only to ~1719 though, then it all went downhill, heh.. ).
They're gonna implement naval battles finally, which has been requested by the fans since the first game, heh..

Can't really link to anything, not much to see yet 'cept a few pictures, which you can look at HERE if you want.

Next, the second most anticipated game of mine: Assassins Creed. O MY FUCKING GOD! This game just look bloody amazing and I urge all of you to watch every movie clip you can find on youtube and you'll understand my reaction, hehe.. The game is being made by the guys who made Prince of Persia, so the combat system is kinda like that game as it seems. But it's the surroundings that really blows me away! They have made an exact replica of Jerusalem in the 12:Th century, during the crusades, every street, every building, and damn it looks sweet! And you can climb everywhere too!

HERE's a movie to start you interrest with!

Here's another movie, or maybe it's the same dunno. Check for yourselves. HERE

If you got any other games you know gonan be released next year, feel free to add the mto this thread :)

assasin's creed looks too much like prince of persia to me, wich i didnt really like
not familiar with the empire games

as for new games to look forward to, i guess im mostly console based on that aspect...
Sega is releasing viking : battle of asgard, wich looks like a cool strategic beat em up, set in a norse mythological backgroud, all cool

god of war : chains of olympus : im getting a psp down the line, and this looks sweet

final fantasy 13, the quest to keep your attention

resident evil 5 : after the fourth one, expectations are high, and they already garnered some media attention because of supposed racist tones

Grand theft auto 4 : wich was recently puched back qo 2008, looks like the franchise is evolving a bit in this one, with a more natural feel

soul calibur 4 : well not so much anticipation, but should be a good fighter

alot of people have their panties in a twist about gran turismo 5 as well

and thats about all i can think of right now
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

viking : battle of asgard, found a couple of pics on this, and well.. it looks decent, nothing more. Never found these "endless slaughering" games any fun, I always grow tired of those games long before I finished them.
BTW tho, it's the same guys who made all the Medieval:Total War 1&2, Rome:Total War and Spartan:Total Warrior, heh.. Maybe you have played the Spartan one? If not, maybe you should check it out as it seems(to me) be kinda like this Viking game.

Never really liked the FF-games, 'cept the first which I played some but not all the way through.

The GTA games has never been my bag either, to 'childish' imho. I loved Mafia, but never really GTA..

Gran Turismo, heh.. Car games are only fun if you got one of'em steering wheels.

BTW, if starcraft 2 is scheduled to 2008, I guess it needs to be put on this list as well. Of course it won't be superb game, but I believe it will be well made and all through a solid game which will give ya a couple of good gaming hours, nothing more.

Here's another few games you should look up on youtube, I'm too lazy to give you links right now:

Prototype - One guy, he's a prototype, can change his body to whatever, exactly like T1000 from Terminator. You are him. Looks kinda cool, though I haven't seen more than two different movies of it, and none of'em really seemed to show the actual game play.

wet - the game, pistols and katana killing, while doing matrix-looking moves. Only seen one trailer and it doesn't show much of the actual game play though.

World in Conflict - Man, this one looks really cool! A RTS game but quite different from all the usual RTS games. Lots of cool units in a alternative 1989 setting in which the cold war escalated into a real war. Looks very cool and is due for release soon I think. Lots of movies of game play on the tube.

GTA has always been a ton of great, twisted fun for me. The sense of humor, the atmosphere, the language - I love this series, despite its obvious shortcomings.
