the downfall of sarcasm

Post by shiram »

today something hit me
sarcasm isnt what it used to be
i remember about 8-9 years ago, some moron would come to me, and you could easily baffle them with a witty sarcastic remark
i loved the look of confusion they would get

now, with the internet, sarcasm is an every day occurance
every moron is going "duh" or whatever
and its lost its integrity
i loved sarcasm, but its been so over used that isnt even fun anymore

i realized this cause someone was pissed at a comment i made about a promo pic of venom from the next spiderman movie
i merely stated that i'd like it if they made venom look big
simple as that, cause the actor, topher grace, is tiny and unimpressive
and this person went on a tirade about how i was judging a movie before it went out and whatever, he even made some valid points, but the post was riddled was half assed attempts at being sarcastic and pedant, and it annoyed me
everyone on the internet, seems to go for sarcasm when in lack of arguments, and it lessened the potency of sarcasm
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I agree. Which is why you shouldnt argue on the internet. Sarcasm is best in real life.
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

There probably isn't any meaning in life. Perhaps you can find something interesting to do while you are alive. Like how you found that flower. Like how I found you.

Buttons aren't toys.

but i like to interact with some people, on the internet
i mean it makes it so much easier to interact with people from different cultures and point of views, and thats interesting, it makes it easier to discover new stuff
but goddamn, people suck...

/agree. I however may be one of those ppl you hate then Shir, 'cause in most forums you get a B!FT! if ya flame or argue to much, so sarcasm is your only way to act superior and let everyone else who read it realize you're "pwning" that inferior 'tard w/o getting banned. So in order to do this you gotta make the sarcasm so insanely obvious, 'cause teh Internets is so full of fools that wwouldn't understand it otherwise.
There's an old swedish saying that goes something like this: "Speak with the peasents in their own language and with the cityfolk in their own way", i know the translation sucks, but maybe you get what I mean. When you know there's mostly 'tards who read, you often simplify your language so they'll understand. This is ofc not the case for me; when i rape the english language on diff. forums it depends mostly on my flawed vocabulary and grammatics, hehe :) Omg, I'm rambling.. Over and out.

i dunno, if you wanna prove your superiority to an internet fool, why dont you do it with articulate and intelligent phrasing?
