To be honest. I can't even remember my handle before Roaming, I've used it for so long. And i used it first playing d2, so really i credit you guys with it. I even like it so much so that if i could get people to go along with it in my real life, id totally have people call me Roam. Or perhaps Rome. But, all that aside.. have you ever thought about changing it?
Oh yea, I'm totally changing my handle to Interrobang when d3 comes out.

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
There probably isn't any meaning in life. Perhaps you can find something interesting to do while you are alive. Like how you found that flower. Like how I found you.
Buttons aren't toys.

Re: What the hell is this all about‽‽‽‽
think i told this one before, and its not a great story
we got the internet at my house when i was about 15, and i needed a secret identity
it was what everyone did back then
thought about what names to use, and i got it from some demon, called Chiram
except it looked bad with the c i thought, so in with the s
i use for most of my online stuff, when i can, so i dont think i would change it
its also totally unrelated to what nicknames or surnames my friends use in real life

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Nah, I've had many nicks but Darius is the "international version" of my first name so it's kinda natural, not really being a typical nickname. Not pretentious or ridiculous, or too common. Works for me.

This is pretty much the only place I still go by the name of "baneman" or "bane" for short. The nick is to common, even the longer version, so I have kinda changed it some years ago. Using mostly "Profoss" nowadays, but even that is taken in some places, so I've used "Prof." as well.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLL
My original online handle was "Crovax" as in the vampire from magic the gathering, rath cycle, then it changed to "Corwin" as in the hero from the Chronicles of Amber series... However, i saw a guy in IRC with the name "plastic" so, in order to make fun of him, i changed my handle to "Styrofoam".... I never changed it back.
Its actually weird, since i was 12 i went by styrofoam, even my first 70 on WoW was named styrofoam, but i play on my priest who has a random name generated name... and everyone knows me by that now. In fact, most people online anymore call me nara(short for naralissa) and even some IRL friends who play wow call me nara. I'd still rather be called styro or styrofoam tho.

My name has a little story to it, and I prolly shared it a time or two with you guys.
10 or so years ago, when I first started doing shit online, I was playing online quake 1 and went by Stone_Cold. Yes, I was a little bit interested in WWE/WWF wrestling at the time and wanted a name that worked for fps gaming. Well the more I used it, the dumber it got. So I changed it. I figured, since I am commiting mass death to "countless peoples lives" in quake, why not change my name to Genocide. A few matches into my new name, some guy thought I was in a particular clan and started hate-bashing me and I dont even know (or remember) what the hell he was on about. Genocide7 was born.
A few months later, I joined an online Magic: the Gathering community using the same handle. Like all things, people tend to shorten the length of a name for ease of time and thus Genocide7 was shortened to Geno. I was quite popular in this gaming community, people would always chat me up and ask me questions and what not. Well around this time, the infamous Christina Aguilera song "Genie in a Bottle" was popular, and someone in the global chat decided to start singing it towards me. Genie just kinda stuck and has b een there ever since.
None of my SWG characters are named Genie, obviously, but -sometimes- I get called in vent by my character name as opposed to Genie, even though Genie is still widely used.
