You never faced Dupes v2.7 By far the most deadly build I ever put together in d2. I think she was the reason Zoso and I couldn't be grouped together in 3v3 matches.Darius wrote:This video is getting famous. Infuckingcredible luck

Re: This guy has a guardian angel..
I guess I had quit the game before they showed up, eh? I left shortly after the huge dupe invasion in mid-late 1.09. One of the triggers was when my friend duped a legit Arkaine's Valor 1.08 and ethereal Fury blades.

Re: This guy has a guardian angel..
I was never interrested in duping myself, but now since we all have quit and those duping methods prolly don't work anymore, can anyone explain how they did it? I seem to recall something called the charsi-dupe, and something about having a trade screen opened then quitting in some special way to get a roll-back.

Re: This guy has a guardian angel..
The charsi dupe involved packet sniffing, which required a program.
The details are fuzzy, but you would sniff two different packets, one I believe being charsi's ID, and the other being the item ID. You then walk into imbue range of Charsi and have someone open a trade with you. After the trade is open, you highlight the item you want to dupe, and send a specific packet to the program that simultaneously attempts to imbue your item. The packet essentially told the program to imbue item ID XX XX XX with npc ID XX XX XX
Duped item will drop to the floor

Re: This guy has a guardian angel..
Aah, so it essentially needed a third-party prog to work. Didn't know that.

Re: This guy has a guardian angel..
There was another way which didn't require a third party program.
After Blizz introduced 1.09, there were ocassionally bugged games which were randomly created on the server. The more people played, the more bugged games appeared. One day, I discovered a bugged game myself. I entered a game, passworded it and started leveling my pally alt. After like one hour of playing, I quit the game and found out that the char didn't save at all - no level ups, no item upgrades, nothing. Since after quitting, a game was always still active for 5 minutes (IIRC), I reentered the game, changed something and left. No save again. One of my friends entered the game, changed a piece of inv, quit. Saved.
In other words, there were games in 1.09 D2 (and people were actively searching for them, creating new games every few seconds and thus, causing massive lag) in which some chars saved and some did not. Now, it was a door wide open for duping. A non-saving char and a saving char enter a game. The former drops an item, the latter picks it up. Both leave the game. The former still has the item in his inventory (didn't save), the latter now also has the item (saved).

All I know is SoJ's and dual leech rings were exploding out of someones head and I kept making mules to pick the shit up.
Anyone remember that awesome dual leech magic find ring I had on east, the one that wasn't on the dii.net no trade list?

Never played on East so I don't really remember it but I remember some fantastic West dupes like the dual leech ring called I think Raven Loop or Raven Band, as well as incredible dual stat leech +2 skills pally and barb amulets. My friend from Europe was drooling when he saw them on my chars on West.
