I'm into death, black, gothic, doom.

For around 15 years now.

Bane, Sweden is the cradle of Euro death metal, Norway - of black. Still, if you're into death now, listen to Behemoth, my favorite Polish death metal band. They kick some serious ass.

Opeth for SURE. Ghost Reveries is a fucking great album. Unfortunately Im just starting to get into the european metal like Soilwork, some In Flames, Opeth, Nightrage, Meshuggah, etc. Personally, Im not really into the death metal/goth metal scene too much, I find it to be a little sloppy sounding sometimes and they tend to repeat there drumming a lot. Definately more into the progressive like yourself. I yet to this day know of any shitty Euro/Swedish bands. You guys rock! \m/

Soilwork are decent imo, and older in flames are absolutely great, but their new shit are to much US-market-oriented and therefor sucks just as much as any other skateboard-punk-neo-metal-hardcore-crap.

Opeth and Nightrage has never really interrested me, and meshuggah I listened some to when i was younger.

About progressive: Have ya heard of Evergrey? They are supposed to be good it's said, tho i don't know for sure since i'm not into that myself.

behemoth: heard of'em, but never listened to'em methinks.. gonna see if i can find an album online. Any speciall album you recommend, Dar ?

All of their albums are good. The first ones are more black / death, the last ones are technical aggressive death. My favorites are Satanica and the new brilliant Demigod. Some folks prefer Thelema 6 or Zos Kia Cultus though.

As for Demigod, it's a good, 'no bullshit' death album with lots of energy, extreme technicalities and power. Some songs really make you headbang.
