String Theory Documentary

Post by SiC cLoWn »

So I was watching this documentary earlier this year and caught it in the middle of it and was totally awed at what I was watching. Now with the power of google <3 and a little mind back tracking, I have found it in its entirety. Enjoy! http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html

blah blah blah ... string theory is mostly a fad to keep the quasi-scientific of hollywood busy and out of trouble. Try watching "what the bleep do we know" .... it's pretty painful.

I've seen the beginning of what the bleep but never seen it all. I probably get it from my friend now that you mention it.

Deadly serious.

String theory is basically like being plugged into the matrix if it is true ... your beliefs determine reality.

Now, don't get me wrong, the mind can have a very powerful effect on what a person is able to do and deal with, but string theory essentially says "fuck all those laws of physics - there is no spoon".

your beliefs determine reality - how is that being plugged into the matrix?? Its being plugged in and realizing you're plugged into something -- hence the friggin movie and basically spirituality today and now science is catching up - - bout time the two realized they're talking about the same thing...I think a lot of people are straight scared of this much responsibility over their lives even though the bible and all religions tell us the same thing just in an ancient way - - fascinating to me....

Actually. The string theory says (at least from what i understand so far) that nearly anything is possible. It's just very improbable. And to date. It's never been proved wrong.

It's like saying... if you believe a spoon is a fork. When you roll a million, million sided dice, and they all hit a million, a million times in a row. Then the spoon might be a fork. Or a knife. Or jello. Or maybe.. still a spoon.

it'd seem a couple things wouldnt be possible, aka time travel.

theres tons and tons of scientific theory devoted to time travel and then theres simple facts like nobody has met a time traveler.

if there is time travel and its highly regulated eventually someone would do it unregulated and fuck shit up!

but i like time travel and i was watching back to the future !! /discuss!

I always said thats the best reason against us ever inventing one, but it's possible they just wouldnt allow them to go into the past, for fear of altering things to the unknown.

I don't think its possible though. Time is only a concept.
