Real update

Post by phreek »

Hey guys. Sorry for the quick post last time, my stomach got the better of me again.

I'm on my 'vacation' now, a week off from work. And OMG, did I need it.

My daughter turned 1 on the 1st of May. TURNED ONE! I have just finished the fastest year of my life, by far. I can't believe she's grown so much already. Her name is Olivia Joy, and she is the light of my life. She just started walking and she can say all the key words like, "keys, food, dad, mom, cosmo (kitty), along with a few others of course". She's great.. except she's trying to mash buttons right now so if there's a typo I get to blame her now.

I'm still married! I still love my wife more than anything! (tied with my daughter of course). Still haven't had a 'fight' yet... at least not one that resulted in me on the couch or anything. I can't explain how much in love we still are.. it's only been like 2+ years but it's been the best years of my life.

I just got promoted at my job, so when I get back from vacation I will be a 'coach' instead of a bill collector, so I don't have to be on the phones anymore. Which is great news because I've been dialing and dialing for 3 years now... and I've heard it's good experience to have management at a bank under my belt.

I about finished my basement too, which is straight pimpin. Big poofy carpet, pretty nice tile job by yours truely, my own secluded computer room, all complete with a full bathroom and a pooltable. All thats left is a 42" flatscreen and a new comfy couch. My grass held through the winter which I was stoked about since it was a fresh lawn this last summer. (new construction).

Other than family and work I still play World of Warcraft. I'll post more in that forum about it but I have a 70 Shaman that I don't play anymore, and my new love is my 70 Hunter, which I use for PVP and I shread pretty hardcore sometimes. I don't have much time to play as much per day, so I can't raid or anything.. but I like PvP much better. Aside from arenas being 'broken' with the leet class makeups out there (which don't include a hunter) and highly geared people making teams to sell messing up all the matchups, I still do OK, even for part time.

Anyway, that's me in a nutshell! :)

How's everyone else doing?

Phreek

I recently finished school after >4 years of studying, business economics and management accounting focusing on strategy development and implementation. So now I'm looking for work in that area. My drunken posts was made after I got rejected for a job I really wanted, heh..

Personal life is the same, me and my gal has been together for >4 years, engaged for >2. Both my bro and my sis has become parents, so the family is full of little toddlers nowadays, hehe.. made my mother really happy.

Made a nose job recently as well, had trouble breathing through my nostrils, so took care of that and got a straighter nose as well.

Still got a crappy comp tat can't really play any games, so I'm stuck with this laptop, playing browser-games. Actually played some MP on Age of Empires II recently, heh.. old-school.

I'm gonna try and bake som bread now. Now that I'm unemployd I've got time to do stuff I've never really had time to do in teh past. Baking bread is one of those things. I'm alos taking good care of my working GF, she's paying for almost everything these days, so I'm giving her the best treatment I can. She gets dinner on the table when she comes home, a clean house and stuff like that, heh.. The wied thing is, I kinda enjoy being a "desperate houseman", hehe :D

Hey guys, I'm back from vacation, it was a good time (photos to come soon)... It's good to hear from you again phreek, glad to hear things are going well. As long as we are doing life updates I guess I have a few new things going on that I can share.

Up until recently I was working part-time as a help desk tech for the school I am attending, but currently I am doing neither (currently unemployed).... I'm trying to decide what to do from here. There is a full time position opening up at the help desk where I have been working that I am fully qualified for, but I'm not sure if I want to do it. It's good pay and all, but I tend to enjoy more physically demanding jobs, so I have to decide whether I should go for the good paying career, or take a more physical job to help keep me in better shape (I'm way out of shape lately, and I'd like to be in better shape).

Unlike you Phreek my lawn needs serious work..... It seems the harder I try to get a good lawn, the worse it gets..... I blame the crappy clay soil I have, but it's probably just me. Other than that I am enjoying the beginning of year 3 at my house, I did some work in my garage, added some shelves and stuff, now all that's left to do is put in my home theater in the basement. I still have the 42" plasma upstairs, but I am hoping to put a projector in the basement for a fun theater experience.

Just one last bit of news which up until now only Crow knew about... my wife and I are expecting our first child this November. We've been married for almost 6 years now (which seems crazy, it's gone by fast) so we figured it was about time to get going on the kids.... I'm looking forward to it more and more every day, which is good since it's only about 6 months away. Oh and don't worry, despite my unemployment things are going well for us, thanks to having a wife who is much smarter than myself, she has settled into a nice job as a pharmacist, which is currently supporting my broke ass......

That's about all for me......

congrats on the baby news, thats great!

as for the job, i can tell you working a full time help desk job is definitely a toll on your health and shape, but i guess it can be said of any office job
i find myself wanting to exercise more, but time is always an issue, I've changed my eating habits as well, trying to make it more healthy, while before i could eat pretty much anything, and the job i had before was much more physical so i wouldn't gain any weight..

anyways, i was pretty much in the same place as you, and opted for the help desk job, mostly cause of pay and advantages
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
