SWG: PvP and a Glance at Pub 28

Post by Genie »

For those of you ex-SWGers who were die hard PvP, let me say that I have been PvPing with some rebels for a while now and the fights keep changing and getting better. As a rebellion, we're slowly working our way to a better fight. Sure, we sometimes outbumner the imps almost 2 to 1 at times, but they have a great method of communication that seems to stomp us a great deal. We are getting a bearing and comm is a line we're working on. Stone has been out in force a lot, Drakien is our master Commando/Guild Whore whereas Keim (Before he left Stone for the WS guild war) is leading us into battle. We've done small skirmishes around the galaxy to big pushes in Theed and other locales.

This message is ment to try and convince those who left to at least check out how PvP has changed and in my honest opinion Pub 28 is a great start. First and prolly the best thing added is the Change Duty command, which allows you to go overt in field, just as if you were at a recruiter. Recruiters still have factional functionality, so they arent gone, but now you can go overt whenever and wherever you want, spawning all sorts of awesome PvP locations without the need of a recruiter.

Player bounties are back and better then they were. When you PvP die, you can place a bouty of 20k up to a good sum on the person who got the DB. Bounties work the same as CU after that though.

Armor has no more certs so you can wear anything (Save jedi)
Jedi get armored clothing as well so they dont have to wear just the robes.

Jedi may have been hit with a big fat sweaty nerfstick, but after tonights show, they certainly have a place in PvP. They can negate snares and bleeds/DoTs and can saber block, making them immune to gunfire. With force run on and heal set, they can charge in, take a few swings at a target (Including a sweep, which is a 5m attack all around) and burst out before they die. With a dbl bladed saber, their hit box is larger, meaning they can play as a shield.

Commandos are prolly the biggest damage and overall FotM. Lava cannons do a considerable amount of damage. They can switch to a gun and have the ability to use multiple snares and bleeds but the cannons and other heavy weapons make them the best combat prof right now, specifically cause you can hold the enemy at a door or corner with your ground fire; you dont need to actually aim at anything to shoot their guns.

Medics are prolly the most important prof and one I think Zo would love most. With pub 28's armor restriction removed, they will prolly be the biggest push for PvP. They get 3 types of rez's, 3 types of heals, buffs and the best skill for combat; Chemical Storm Clouds or "Shitstorm". the storm creates a swirling cloud of poison miasma that dots and bleeds as well as damages over a good 15-20m area.

Bounty Hunters rank up last in the most needed PvP class because of their area snares and specials. They can use bombs and mines as well, making them a force of potential. They also have bleed and DoT attacks to compliment their arsenal, and with the new bounty system, they should show up to drastically change events.

Officer, Spy and Smugglers dont tend to show, although I have seen a spy do some neat tricks and officers have a sweet attack. Smugglers so far get shafted.

Melee is pretty much non existant san Jedi and that prof isnt really great for PvP for the untrained. Group fighting is a serious way to fight and timing is key; making notes as when a snare or smoke will dissipate makes for a charge or a deathblow to your side.

And when the next few publishes come out, more stuff related to PvP and the GCW will come, like new base-war type items, I think battle fields might be coming back. New PvP rating info iirc and of course a reason to hold a planet in the GCW.

In all I think you should be there for a good pvp battle and make up yer mind, but you should attempt it nonetheless.

dumbest thing they ever added was armor certs... At least I get to wear my RIS again.

unfortunately, they still have a "cert" for armor in game. Its a level based cert, all armor requires you to meet a specific level to be able to wear, including crafted. All classes must be like level 22 or somethin.
