The State of SWG

Post by Genie »

I wanted to post this and hope those who useta play read it and at least think about this game in a positive way. SWG, as everyone knows, went through another ratical change that caused some die-hards to finally pull the plug. My personal opinion is those of you who quit didnt really give the game a chance, and thats okay, cause I understand yer reasons for quitting. This post isnt about you, so ill shut up.

I wanted to tell you the state of the game as is. And the main thing is how the game is becoming fun again. The first thing is the number of people playing. The game has dwindled down, but its coming back! Last night, for example; although I wasnt there for the fight in space but our weekly space pvp battle had about 30 people show. Doesnt sound like a lot, but considering we useta have half that number. Ground pvp is a lot different then it was in the cu. It is -so- fast paced and one wrong move means yer corpsed. We had about 30 REBEL pvpers last night goin at it against about 20 imperials and I was there for 2 hours, they were doin it all night from my understanding.

The leveling and questing kinda sucks ass, and no much content has changed, but its been changing and mostly for the good. I know a coupla you guys went to EQ2 pvp and enjoy it cause its got a look and feel of precu fighting but SWG pvp is so much fun. I really think ya'll should try it. Some of you might have 15 day trials left too.

Plus, last night, I was just walking around Eisley... I saw 20-30 people just in a 50 meter range of the star port, plus countless more in cantina's, doing missions, and in the other areas of the city.

After that I took a shuttle over to Theed. There I found a good 30+ people near the shuttle, countless more in the cantina... guys, the game isnt nearly dead yet.

so your saying to get to the point where the game is fun you have to play a buncha stuff that sucks ass?

i wouldn't want to have 100+ levels of suck just so i could go pvp and kill people.

least in GW it took me like 3 days to hit 20 and then i could start killing noobs

actually you can start at 10 in the ascalon arena, forgot about that

There are lots of reasons people quit. But the game being 'fun' wasn't one of them. The reason people left is because they were playing one game which SOE took away, and replaced with a shitty game, and called it an improvement.

The things i liked from SWG are gone. The game is dead to me.

I'm not here to start a fight with you. I'm just saying, you dont even know first hand what they took away, you never gave this game a chance. Everything you know about it is hear-say.

They went from 35,000+ 'classes', not including jedi. To 8, not including jedi. And jedi is now a starting class. Which i hate the idea of. I liked being able to min/max, over and over. Tweak to perfection.

Well, kiddo's enjoying it, and I'm surprised how fast he's got to level 38. He's dying for an expansion, but the account will poof next week unless I get a game card. I may get him an expansion and a game card for his birthday in April.

I can tell you that after playing WoW, SWG looks like shit. People say WoW looks "cartoonish" but the zones looks tons better than anything in SWG.

Kiddo has been having fun from what I've seen, seems impressed with space even though a certain old man seemed more impressed. Combat is alot faster then it used to be, which actually helps since you're not dinking around for 15 mins to kill a high end critter... Even though it is idiot proof to some point.

WoW might look better but I have alot more fun in SWG then I ever did in WoW.
